Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-22

This policy explains the minimum personal data PickPOV uses to run the public beta, why it is used, and the controls available to you.

Optional visit statistics

Only if you allow visit statistics, we set a random browser identifier in a protected cookie lasting up to 30 days. We count foreground home/debate views, broad source and device categories, and browser-observed failed actions. These records contain no email, raw IP, search text or full referring URL and are not linked to your account. Declining does not restrict the service. Open Visit statistics settings on community pages to stop collection and erase this browser identifier's live records; clearing cookies removes our ability to identify earlier browser records. Raw statistics are retained for 90 days, with daily cleanup allowing up to one extra day. Encrypted backups expire separately and are not used for analytics.

Account participation statistics

After statistics are enabled, protected server records capture the first completion of your profile, first vote time and days on which you vote, post a published point or boost. They support aggregate onboarding and return rates, are not public, and are retained for 90 days with daily cleanup. No historic events are invented. These service records are separate from optional browser measurement; account deletion and designated test accounts are excluded from reported rates.

Data we collect

We collect account identifiers, your email from the sign-in provider, profile choices, terms consent, content (including optional debate cover images), votes, boosts, reports, security logs, and limited product interaction events. We do not collect a full birth date or publish your email or individual voting history.

How data is used

Data supports sign-in, debate features, ranking, translation, moderation, abuse prevention, user support, reliability, and measurement of the service. We do not use payment, sponsorship, or membership to change organic votes, rank, or moderation.

Service providers and transfers

Hosting, database/authentication, email delivery, translation, bot protection, and moderation providers may process only the data needed for their assigned purpose. The beta is designed around a United States data region, so information may be processed outside your country. The actual production provider list and region must be verified before launch.

Retention during beta

Account and profile records are kept while the account is active. Routine request and security logs are normally kept for up to 30 days. Moderation reports, decisions, appeals, and related audit evidence may be kept for up to 12 months after closure, or longer when needed for security, fraud prevention, or law. Deleted public content may leave a non-public audit record or a public tombstone without the original body; rolling backups expire under the published backup schedule.

Advertising and collaboration

The first release reserves a clearly labelled homepage advertising area, but it remains off until a real provider, payout eligibility, consent requirements, and this policy are verified. Paid collaborations do not change votes, ranking, or moderation.

Your controls

You can edit your profile, remove eligible content, mute discussions, block users, and record an account-deletion request in Settings. Access, correction, withdrawal of a pending deletion request, and other privacy requests use the published contact channel. We verify identity before disclosing or changing private account data.
